Who Do You Insure Your MX5 With?

Here's a question for you all - which companies insure you on the track ? I'm insured with Shannon's and all track work is insured as long as it is not a timed event. You also don't need an instructor with you in the car as well.

Not sure if Budget or Woolies would like that arrangement ....

I'm with Shannons, & unfortunately that's not the way I read their PDS.
It says you are not covered on a race track, or in any form of motor sport. It states that you are covered for a defensive driver training course "that is conducted under full time, direct professional instruction & supervision".

If you are with Shannon’s they offer a discount on all your insurance if you have a CAMS licence. It was around the 10% mark that on a few cars make a big difference.

Shannons are an insurer of last resort - you use them if you have a modified car. I only have my modded 5 with them as their quotes for my daily was about double what I'm paying elsewhere. For normal stuff they're not competitive.

Are there other insurers who guarantee choice of repairer (not you can choose from this list), can do limited use etc and are cheaper?

You certainly pay for that privilege.
I was quoted nearly double by Shannons to what I'm currently paying for my shopping cart.

They're on par with NRMA, GIO etc for me and have the cheapest green slip of any of them.

Choice of repairer is absolutely critical for me. Being in a closely related industry I'm all to aware that there's a lot of questionable repairers around, especially when it comes to insurance jobs where they're under pressure to keep the cost ultra low so if I have the misfortune of having to have a repair done I want it done by someone I know.
