NC Hardtop rubber seals

Postby Snarper » Fri Nov 02, 2018 9:43 am

I have a MX5 NC 2010. The seals on the hardtop are starting to crack and I would like to replace them before I get a leak. Mazda quoted me just under $2,000 just for the seals and 4 weeks wait. I was wondering can anyone suggest a better place to get the rubber seals and also does anyone know how big a job it is, if I can I'd rather do it myself and do it right if that is possible

Try MX5parts in the UK. They look to have them at a bit better price.

is it for the removable hard top or retractable HT?

Perhaps some pics would help, I have never seen a cracked window seal, any my NC spends most of its life outside

The 2010 were all retractable hard tops regie but a photo might help. Thats really pricey. Snarper I think you should go and see a dealer- there really are some good ones about- they do know the cars. Get an inspection of the vehicle and ask them have they seen this problem before and also what do they recommend also a quote. If its not leaking now maybe do nothing- though by the sound of it there is some evidence of cracking.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond. It is a retractable hardtop and yes I might just keep an eye on it for a while. Next chance I get I'll take some photos and give you guys a look at what I am talking about. Thanks again for your help!

For replacement parts it's worth checking: https://www.amayama.com/en
Noting that you can get them for GBP253 no UK VAT from: https://www.mx5parts.co.uk/roof-seal-re ... -3562.html
It's also worth checking the big forum (Miata.net) to see their approach to this issue:
