Keys in the house- well that counts for most of us I would guess. So we keep the keys in the house somewhere they can readily be found. A mate hid some keys in a safe place and he still has not found them! Take all your keys with you in the car you are driving - how practical is that: the partner is driving it- drat all the keys gone - cannot start my other car - oh bother. Some of us carry the car and house keys on our person but sensibly you have a duplicate set hidden somewhere like under the flower pot. Even if you lock your keys in a safe would you hand them over if threatened by an armed thug ? With that nbr plate someone might spot the car- good luck

All you can really say for certain is the toll tag is still in the country....... :|

However, what are the chances the thief is so stupid that they don't realise the toll tag in the car is reporting their movements?

It'll be found dumped full of burger wrappers, syringes and a few dents. Then the argument with the insurance coy begins.

Sorry to hear about the theft, bloody oxygen thieves.

The scary thing is if you have a car with keyless unlock and start theives don't even need to break into your house, they just boost the signal from the key and away they go.

I'm hopeful that it doesn't come to this. :frown:

It only had 7800km on it, never dríven in the rain and always kept with a cover on it. I'd only wash and detailed it and filled the tank up the day before it went missing.

Assume you told the cops that the toll tag is being used? Possible that they can check to see if it's being dríven or on a tilt tray which they could pull the plates from.

Good luck with it!

It's not worth it for a Detailer to be involved in the theft. There are a lot more sellable cars out there worth stealing.
When it runs out of petrol the thief will change cars or do a few petrol drive offs.

Like getting keys cut, if you are not watching a spare can be cut and the address from the tag noted. Even if you notice then cutting a second they could say it was the wrong* blank. The benefit is these can sit around for months before they are used and people would have forgotten about have keys cut...

You'd never attach your address to keys nor give it to them. I only put my mobile number on them in case they are found.
I don't think there is a criminal gang going around stealing NDs (yes for luxury cars). It's just an opportunistic thief who took whatever was available.

Yes, I updated my police report over the phone they took the details of direction of travel (some northbound some south at different times of the day) and where it was recored , but I'm sure that with the hundreds of other stolen cars out there it wont be much of a priority :?
