You and I will be popping our XL "cherries" this weekend. As Zero00 said they are great to watch with battles going on all thru the pack so you won't miss out. Go to Youtube and search "XL one hour". you should find some good video on braking markers and lines for corners. See you there.
Cheers, The Pirate.

Not only XL but FWD as well, for me.
Lines are over rated, they are only for people who can drive. I've done plenty of laps of QR, so I'm hope full the learning curve, won't be to steep.

I'm very happy with the cost as well. Total build cost was around $5k incl the car. We did rob some parts off the mx5 though.

Have fun with it!!

The damn things defy logic!! Not sure if the southern States also have the series, but I'm sure if not, it WILL catch on!!

I'll bring my gopro and roll bar mount on sunday to get some sweet excel racing vids.

Got to get to Sunday first. ZoomZoom is talking about some road to glory :D I think we will both be pretty bloody happy to just finish the weekend.

Buying a car 4 weeks out from a race is not one of my best moves. Hell of a lot of work!

As someone who recently thrashed a '78 rwd Mazda 323 very slowly around Broadford and who sells new Hyundais for a living I thoroughly endorse inflicting as much punishment as possible on all older fwd cars and especially earlier generation Hyundais. I'd love to race an Excel.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

Yes the do, NSW, VIC and I think now SA.

I just wanted to go racing, seems like the best option I.M.O. "Have fun", pretty sure that is the main reason. There is always a a spare ticket and a seat in the pits if you want it Roger.

Very much so.
Off the shelf springs and shocks.
Controlled tyres
Pads are free.
Standard headers. After that go for your life.

The bloke running it, builds cars. So they have really tighten up the rules.

From watching them over 3 years at Sprint meetings at Lakeside it appears they are very well balanced cars like the MX5, understeer isn't noticable from the viewing areas, they just seem to turn the damn things and they respond!!

Of course I have also seen a considerable number off into the armco and tyre barriers BUT, when someone can put a car on the track for under $1000 and maybe has never even turned a wheel on a track then that's understandable!

One a few weeks ago, his father raced Geminis etc told the family 'this will be SO easy!! just watch me! First lap BANG!! into the tyre barrier onto the main straight! That dented his ego but the straightened it out and off he went again!!

Thanks for the offer 'toppertee' but I have the monthly MX5 Club Sunday run on that day and I am the organiser for that one! Maybe I should request a change and detour via QR then head back to the hills!!

Much appreciated anyway and would have loved to be there to watch you and 'Pirate'

I just checked 'Natsoft' and well done guys for your efforts at Queensland Raceway today

'Toppertee' & 'ZoomZoom' [Nigel & Tim] running the #13 Excel for 'Porn Star Racing' and also 'Pirate' and Garry running the #34 Excel for 'Goodyear Autocare North Lakes/Lakes Hyundai'- great effort guys to finish where you did

Also well done Dean in the NA #194 in the QR Sports sedan category, great to see so many coming from the ranks of those competing in our MX5 Club track days

I wish all of you the best for tomorrow in the BIG one hour!!

Proud of you all :!: :!:

I found out what lift off under steer was. I looped/spun the excel second lap into turn one.
One of those brown your pants moments. It was only a 8 lap race. I caught the back markers and that was the best I could do.
Pirate and zoomzoom ran really well. Zoomzoom went from 18 to 12 and the pirate was a couple more a head of zoomzoom.
Really different car to drive. No grip, no brakes and no power. Real heap of fun :D
The car has not skipped a beat so far. Still chasing set up. We are hopeful for a mid field finish tomorrow, but to be honest, it's a real steep learning curve and just to finish with no dents and a running car would be tops.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
