Spare wheel & tyre possibilies

Postby steve0102 » Sun May 20, 2018 7:46 pm

This is my first time on this forum so forgive me if I'm bringing up a topic that's featured before.
I bought a 2005 NC Series 1 limited edition last year which only came with a puncture repair kit & no spare wheel at all. I've been trying to track down a space-saver rim & tyre that I can take along on longer trips in the car, just in case I cop a flat far, far from home or at night.
The local tyre place thought they had one for me but when we tried fitting it unfortunately we found the holes were not lined up with the wheel studs properly. I've spoken with Mazda dealers & have been told they can't help me either.
I also read somewhere that there may be a specific Kia rim or space saver that fits the NC??
Can anyone on here help at all with this please? Maybe someone out there has solved the same issue successfully with their own NC? Of course fitting the full sized flat tyre in the boot is another issue again, but one problem at a time!
Many thanks.

Try sourcing an RX8 spare

Welcome & congrats! Depending on your location, fairly sure there was an RX8 space saver for sale on here: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=75834

Space saver from a 3 or 6 should fit, and I imagine are cluttering up wrecking yards around the country.

As above, Mazda RX8 ones fit.

I know that RX8 alloy wheels fit the 3 and 6 too, so I would assume the reverse is true for the space saver (depending on brake clearance)

The PCD is 5x114.3, which is a very common size, so no doubt you could a wheel from heaps of other non-mazda models that would fit (just make sure to test fit one first, since the brake clearance is often what differs between cars. Probably not as much of an issue with a space saver however)
1999 Mazda MX5 - 1989 Honda CT110 (for sale) - 1994 Mazda 626 wagon (GF's)

Indeed - this came up in old threads about an NC spare, which unfortunately aren't coming up in search. Basically only certain years of certain models fitted, so definitely test fit if going for other than the RX8 spare. Following gives an idea of considerations:

Isn't the other issue with an NC the fact that there's nowhere to store the original wheel once you've taken it off?
