The hardtop has its pigtail, I have found the correct switch & an in-line fuse to install but is there need for a relay in the story somewhere?

Due to the current draw involved when using a demister, there undoubtedly is a relay. I think it's a matter of flicking the switch, making it click and homing in on the sound. If yours is missing the relay, I can go hunting for you if you're interested.
