Replacement key

Postby atlast » Wed Sep 20, 2017 8:01 pm

I searched, honestly I did, but I didn't find anything..
Is there another choice other than having to spend $400+ for a second key for my 2008 ND PRHT???

Search function can be a bit hit & miss on here - probably best to search the big forum, ie Miata.net: https://www.google.com.au/search?q=nc+k ... 8weI04qoAQ

There are guys around doing keys for a living e.g. mobile - I used a key guy who did work for a salvage guy - this was a Ford he was much cheaper than the "standard price" So I am suggesting that you ask around and get some numbers and a price - I bet you can beat a standard dealer price. Try someone connected with say MX-5s convenient to you and see who they use.

I just had a replacement key for an Impreza cut and coded for $190 at the local Mister Minit, vs about $700 for a factory one. They just needed one original key to read the code. It should be the same sort of deal for Mazdas.

quite often the key and watch/ battery / guys in small centres are cheaper - the larger centres inflict higher rents. Mobile guys are probably even cheaper again. Even simple things like engraving are cheaper in the local strip as opposed to mega centres.

Locksmith.

I use one for replacement/additional keys, last did an NB8A key and it cost next to nothing. He's also done Falcon keys for me. He can cut from the correct blanks, and transfer the code from one key to the new one.

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)
