looking for recomendations for NB head unit (AUS)

Postby magenb » Mon Feb 19, 2024 11:00 pm

The car audio market is a very different place since I last messed around with them, so not a lot of stores left and barely any info on the products for the selection either.

Really looking for a head unit mostly for Android auto (calls, GPS), so not looking for anything super high spec. A couple of rear USB slots so I can hide wires, something that fits in the double din slots, so about a 7" screen. Happy to consider the Android head units too, if they have a recent version of android and enough grunt to actually play long podcasts or long set.. the current kenwood taps out at ~45 mins.

Just installed a 7inch Eonon (ua13) unit with android 13. It just fits with a universal double din trim add-on. Its on the cheaper end of the scale, so it's not going to set the world on fire, but it works, has wireless android auto and a bunch of other stuff I'll never use :). I still need to play around with the sound setting but the defaults not too shabby.

Make sure you update the firmware on the new headunit if you haven't already. My one came with old firmware and a few bugs, and these Chinese Android units can be a bit buggy out of the gate.

Of the standard dual din decks i'm a big fan of the Kenwood units and the Kenwood dash cam that work with them.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
