There simply isnt a big enough market to justify the time and cost of producing a proven safe plug and play kit, unfortunately.

I can send the parts and they will connect and work, but its on you to argue with the local tuner about getting it all to behave, make the power and be reliable.

My view is that what one person calls "tuned" another calls "because race car".

I've even sat in OEM cars and felt the engine idle and behaviour to be erradicate whereby I'd like it to be "better tuned" - so whilst it might be plug-n-play for Dann, that might not be plug-n-play for you... and probably why you'd be best to drive down and have him install and show you it running etc. I'd even recommend you stay for a long weekend, as a car hot and idleing with AC and stuff is very differeent when first started, cold and oil pressure low.

Unfortunately there's no such thing as perfect "Plug and Play" - any tune is specific to your hardware and even with the exact same setup as someone else there can be unexpected differences which is why it's always best to tune for your car specifically, starting with the closest base map as possible (I think Dann should charge a fee for the Haltech Base maps he's come up with so far given the time he's spent on them - they're worth every cent given that other tuners won't have to spend the time getting a decent map to start with).

If you have an MSM/SE with all the bolt-on modz and the OEM ECU, ANY aftermarket solution will be an improvement though and you can at least tinker with it to address the issues.

When I had my Adaptronic tuned by Bob Romano, the best Adaptronic tuner I've used so far, I thought they'd done a brilliant job, the car FINALLY felt factory-smooth again. When I dropped it off to Dann, he took it for a spin and noted a few issues straight away that I hadn't picked up on (probably because I's gotten so used to the car running rough with the OEM ECU). Whether this was just a specific scenario given the car's state at the time (I'd just drĂven all the way from Brissie to Newcastle) or something that always occurred I don't know, but the longer you can leave the car with a tuner the better they can ensure it runs well under all conditions, as gslender said.

Thanks Dann. Well, it's back to the orginal plan. Maybe I'll just go on a "boy's trip away" for a week 8)

In the back of my mind I know the best outcome will come from taking the car to Dann, but I was hoping I could somehow get around it. Hopefully in a couple of months I'll be nailing down a date.

Sounds like a good opportunity to take to the two loves of your life for a drive holiday?

How does the new Elite 750 compare to the 1500, and would it be suitable for our cars?

Lock in a date and take the week off. Or hire a car but really the first is the better option and we'll worth it considering the mine field of issues you could have else where. Just my 2c.

Wen are yet to see if the 750 can do a legitimately good job of running the pinout heavy NB8b but a little birdy tells me that we will soon know for sure.

I know it. Drive down-fly home, work, fly down-drive home would be the way to do it, mabye a day or two of leave in there.

Every now and then a little voice comes up and says "But, what if NitroDann, Automotive Plus and GT Auto all worked together ..." and I have to stamp it down and say "No! We do it right the first time!", too many hands in there, too many fingers to point at other people if something doesn't work right.

Very cool. I'm curious to hear how it goes, and what differences/limitations there are.
