it is but as you can see the rails hold the buckle so the belt still needs to go over the edge of the seat to clip in

Any tips on how to remove the 2 capitve washers on the buckle side? I was thinking of grinding out the welds and then they should fall off. I dont want to compromise the strength of the rails though!!

if you are talking about the ones for the stock seat semi-side mounting then they were grinded off.

yeah they are the ones...

I just ground them off and it still doesn't give me enough room. The side mounting on the stock rail hits the side of the seat before the holes line up!

edit-

It seems to be hitting at the point where the side mounting holes on the sparco seat come out. did you have to grind this back a bit too?

Mine didn't require any changes to the seat.

I'm having the same problems, but with a sparco tec....

The bit that holds the seat belt buckle hits the side of the sparco seat so I can't bolt the rail to the seat because the holes dont line up properly.

I'm also thinking of angle grinding the seat to make the seat fit the rail

Or maybe angle grind off the seat belt buckle and bolt the seat belt buckle to thorugh the transmission tunnel. (I know this is NA style but I dont think its very safe)
every ounce counts

wun, just push the rail as close to the seat as you can and bolt it in. If its anything like the sprint V the rear bolt will then hit the groove on the slider a bit as it slides. It fits, its just tight.... :D

I have just fitted a Sparco Sprint V in my NB, and thought I'd weigh the two seats while they were out for those interested.

Std seat with runners = 13.5 kg
Sprint V on same runners = 12.5 kg.

Yeah, I thought there would be more, but then I guess the Sprint V is a steel frame lower end of the market (ie cheaper) seat..

Has anyone here had the Sparco Sprint V's successfully engineered into their car?

I've been seriously considering a pair, but couldn't justify them if I couldn't get them engineered.

Yes a customer of ours has engineered the Sparco as it retains the factory seat runners

Cheers

^ What he said.

IIRC the belt in the GM went through the side cutout. Then again, I did not use NB rails so I had to fit a NA buckle and stalk to the tunnel, so my buckle was in a different place to the seat mounted one. Oh, and mine was the old 'Sprint', if that makes a difference.

And mine was engineered with no problems. :)

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

Monthly bump! :P

So can most Sparcos use the stock seat rails? Can you get 4 point harness engineered as well as I wouldn't feel safe if the lapsash went over my lap, not on it.

Probably can't get the harness engineered, I believe it actually has to do with it not retracting like the factory one.

Take a read of the following article, it's from consulmotive one of the RTA approved engineers
http://www.consulmotive.com.au/Website% ... 20Room.pdf

For those who can't be bothered clicking

Starting with seats, is it generally acceptable to bolt in aftermarket seats so long as they are mounted on the OE (original equipment) seat rails?
Seating modifications generally affect compliance to two (2) rules: ‘ADR 3 Seat Anchorages’ and ‘ADR 22 Head Restraints’. ADR 3 covers the structural integrity of the seat base when it is secured to the original anchor points in the floor pan provided by the vehicle manufacturer. Where non-original anchor points are to be used, then advice from an Engineering Signatory is recommended prior to installation.

And converting from seat belts to racing harnesses? What then?
Any replacement seat belts must comply with ‘ADR 4 Seat Belts’ and must selfretract if the vehicle was originally fitted with retractable seat belts. Any fourpoint harnesses are generally not accepted in most vehicles manufactured to comply with ADR 4 and self-retracting inertia seat belts. Also, the relocation of seat belt anchor points is not recommended unless additional seat belts are retro fitted to early-model vehicles. In cases advice from an Engineering Signatory is recommended prior to installation.
