I haven't added anything for ages, mostly just been driving the SE for club motorsport.

Last event of the club season the 2nd hand 225s started to de-laminate i've gone down to 215s for this season.



Shifting into 3rd under load was getting a bit notchy, might have to look at stiffer engine and diff mounts.



The last event was using the car parks of Perth Motorplex, the first time we've done too laps, the heat from the brakes was enough to melt my centre caps. Going to have to run some ducting.

Back in 2008 I bought a Garage Vary bonnet off Lou.

It's never been high gloss and i've been meaning to get it recoated before I put it on the SE so this weekend I decided to try it myself.

If the weather is decent tomorrow i'll try and throw on some clear.

I assume this was the predecessor to the current vented GV hood which has a larger front lip parallel to the radiator?
Are you planning on cutting a vent?
If not, what's the point of the hood, it can't be that much lighter than the aluminium bonnet?
These are genuine questions that I'm sure others will be wondering about too.

Thanks, that's the view I was most interested in - the other shots made it look shallower than that, with no vent (which made me question its purpose).

Some progress. I put the clear with a rattle can, as much as I tried there was pretty heavy orange peel.

Spent ages sanding and buffing it back, I was worried about sanding too much off so was probably overly cautious and spent too long redoing areas.

I could spend hours more trying to fix every little scratch mark but i've decided i'm happy enough with it as is.

Quick question, what happens when it's raining? is there a way to stop water pour down into your engine bay or is that ok?

I was wondering that too. Does the water run down in a safe location, or died the hood mean it's a fair weather only car?

Pretty much only gets dríven for motorsport and the occasional cruise, in Perth we have a short supply of rain so it doesn't see too much of it.

Had motorsport last Sunday and the car had 2 issues.

1) Started to stumble a little under boost

Today I changed the plugs
Out with the old ..

Thought it was good to change the heat range slightly not sure if I should have changed the gap to 8.

2) Car drove perfectly to the event, as I staged for the first run the wheel started wanting to turn to the right and the car has been doing that ever since.

I read online that you can check if it's the power steering by jacking up the front wheels and running the engine, the wheels didn't turn right and each wheel seems to turn freely, I think one of my offset bushes might have turned or something else is wrong with the alignment.

Decided to put new fluid in the power steering reservoir anyway.

It looks like the old plugs have the right colour so the temp range and tune looks good (at least from the photo).

Wow, seen your name all over the forum, and I've seen your car on the internet quite a few times wondering who owns it... Now I can put the 2 together :P Awesome car! You're one of the lucky people to get the Konig Spooled before they were discontinued if I'm not mistaken?
