Thanks Alan. I’m getting the car engineered and hoping to get it on Track next Saturday. I don’t expect a quick sale so will make the most of it while I can.
Is yours engineered?

Engineered.... nah, Still more mods I think. Just done the brakes & looking at inlet manifold & 70mm throttle body now. By all accounts should be close to the 200hp then. I reckon that'll do for a few months (ha ha). Hope the sale goes ok (tried to get my dentist interested for you but he went & brought a BMW!!!!)

Went for a drive this morning

Roads were empty but a bit natrow for full in attack mode, still, a great drive.

Good roads up there, glad you enjoyed, and the weather would have been perfect.

Just got back from Lakeside this morning in 40 degree heat.
The Tart was soooo excited to be back on track she did a little sex weeeee!

Turned out the coolant tank lip has worn down and it’s not fully pressuring.
Couldn’t crack 64 today on the NT01’s.
Tyres change the car much more than any other mod, so I’m off to save up for something different

Turns out it’s not quite time

You can see the classic NC split lip. The replacement (thanks Lou) was all of a 5 minute job.

Quick update.
I haven’t had any interest in the car so I’ve had to modify my plans.
I was planning to build a 2f qualifying NC to compete in the Qld Prod Sports series and a few other events.
So, I’m going to use the Tart instead.... :D
I won’t qualify for 2f but I’ll just use this year as a bit of fun and learning then hopefully get a more focused car built for 2021, assuming I like it.
I have to admit, the lack of a full roll cage does bother me but I’ll just have to take it easy! Anyone know any bolt in side impact bars?
I wasn’t planning on doing any door to door racing for a few years but I went down a YouTube rabbit hole of in car vids from Tim and Shane and thought it looked a lot of fun!

Yeah! Solid plan dude. The 2.5 will be awesome.

You know you can't have itbs in 2f though right?

I do now! I can increase compression though?

yeah, and 1.5mm bigger on the bore, but IIRC the NC's engine has a coating on it, so you can't bore it that much. But you can go big cams, up the compression.

Sometimes there's a thing as too much compression though, the BP's prefer more timing rather then more compression - E85 helps that though, best of both worlds. Not sure how the NC is tuned though.
If there's one thing I have learnt though, you really need to plan the build as a build - the top and the bottom need to be done to work together.
Cheers,
plohl

The MZR piston linings is very strong (reliable) if un-touched but can be significantly over bored at the expense of reliability - the age old issue with pushing the envelope I guess.
I have a bit of experience with them in european clubman racing but always with the benefit of TB's or carbs. It loves compression, cams, timing and revs revs and more revs.

On a race car I won't need the stock ecu although ECUtek can deliver a good tune but I want to look at digital dash, GPS etc as part of the package so I'll probably go standalone, defo E85, upgraded cooling, diff, gearbox internals. Brakes are interesting, stock brake calipers with upgraded pads and rotors together with some extra cooling will probably be enough for short races but again, I'm keen to see what people are running and get their feedback.

There seems a few options for a cage and I'll see what suspension/alignment people run but overall the car will be planned out before the build. Should be fun though but that's all for next year now.

Will update you as my build progresses, have help from the US on the decisions to be made. However I'm putting the MZR into the NA6 chassis so it will not be 2B or 2F, rather it is a WTAC clubsprint build.

The ECU, Dash, sensors, Smartwire and body loom will be transferred into the new build. Will be using NB subframes and steering rack. Require a dry sump as well to make it fit. Still to decide on the gearbox...
