Also, the 5 speed box was quicker at QR (59.19), will be testing with a 4.8 final Drive soon. It took a bit of adjusting but the car has a 58 second lap in it no probs. My T1 and T2 speeds were down, so if I fix this...

Not sure what to do if I hit this goal... A few years ago a 59 seemed a world away and outside my abilities. I guess I will make my decision after WTAC this year, if I can hit a 1:50 maybe it is time for a sea change...

A recent video that was made looking at changing oil brands and weights.

I probably should update this thread more often.

Front and rear body looms all made up ready to be pinned into the Smartwire. Should be starting to pin it up tomorrow and onto the engine loom some time next week.

Car starts, keypads installed and a box of 'parts' that is around 15kgs of what was taken out. Still have 2 buttons left to find a use for :)

A button on the keypad will turn 'ignition' on which will turn on the dash, ecu, injectors, coils etc on (the fuel pumps will prime then switch off again) then push the starter and wind it over to fire it up as if you were turning the key.

Left and right indicator buttons, plus a hazard button. Hazard button works without ignition button on, left and right only work with ignition button on. High and low beams on separate buttons as well. Wiper is either off or flat out, stops whenever you turn it off. It is race car so on/off wiper is good! No more steering column controls!

There is an override button for fans so with the 'ignition' button off, fans can be kept running to cool down and a pump override to activate the pumps in the same way the fuel tank need to be pumped out..

The rain light is wired to the Smartwire direct so you push the rain light button and it starts flashing.

VBOX also has its own button on the keypad which can be activated after you turn ignition on.

RPM signal is going to the Racepak Vantage CL-1 and the VBox Lite.

This is what has been removed from the car during the re-wire:

A few jobs to be done when the car comes back from its re-wire

4.8 torsen diff to temporarily replace the 4.3 2 way diff. If the 4.8 works out the crown/pinion gear will be swapped into the 2 way. If it does not work out a 5.3 crown and pinion will be installed into the torsen and tested. The tests will be done with a 5 speed box, may repeat the tests with a 6 speed as well...

Have some suspension changes to test as well. No damper changes :)

Catch can to be installed

Wiring looks good, must be getting close now.

Is the diff ratio testing more for WTAC, local tracks or both?

Pick up Friday :) Other half is getting the instructions on how to start it. Key is only needed for the doors and boot now.

It is mainly for WTAC at the moment, not sure if I will have a 6 speed repaired in time to test with the different final drive ratios. I will be consigned to doing a math comparison and then making a decision based on that.

However, having a few diff and gearbox choices will allow some choices on the car setup going forward. After typing that I just realised that it all sounds a bit too serious now...

I was faster at QR (sprint/clubman) with a 4.3 and 5 speed than with a 4.3 and 6 speed. But it could have just been a good day for me and I was performing above my mean (regression to the mean). At Morgan Park and QR I will be running the 4.8 with 5 speed. Morgan Park is more similar to SMSP so it will be a good test. If I can go faster than 1:12 on Layout E I will be more than happy. If I can get under 59 on Sprint well...
