The 98 NB

The Eunos

New car so new thread ..

Image

Took a red eye flight from Perth after work on a Wednesday, arrived early Thursday morning in Brisbane.

Image

Image

Caught a flight to Port Macquarie and arrived around lunch time

Image

Car dealer picked me up from the airport and I checked out the car

Image

Image

Image

I noticed the passenger central locking wasn't working so the dealer tried to fix it themselves

Image

Got some supplies and headed to Sydney.
Image

Arrived in Sydney 45mins late for dinner but my mates had kindly waited.

Was great to catch up with a few old MX5cartalkers over dinner, they're such a great bunch of guys I feel honoured to be able to call them my friends.

Bigdog kindly provided accommodation on Thursday night, was great to see his cars and have a good chat.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Left Bigdog's and headed to Melbourne.

Image

Image

-Alex, Bensale, Stu and de Bounce kindly met up with me in Melbourne, we grabbed some Pizza in Port Melbourne and a hot chocolate for desert.

Image

After dinner I headed to Ballart but the hotel receptions were closed so I slept in the car near Ararat.

Sunday morning I left Port Augusta as early as I dared, still had a near miss with a massive roo about an hour out of town.

Image

Image

Image

Stopped in Ceduna ready to cross the Nullarbor

Image

Image

Image

Image

Got into Cocklebiddy about 4:30 and decided to stay the night there instead of risking driving further and being stuck without accomodation dodging roos and camels at dusk.

Image

Image

There was a spectacular thunderstorm off in the distance.

Nice!

Good to see a one of 13 go to one of our own, congratulations, and welcome to the dark side!

Pleased the eastern contingent made you feel as welcome as the western team did in 2010 when I was there

I may be a little jealous, saw this come up just after I'd purchased Maniac, but I'm more pleased to see it's gone to a good home

After a good night sleep I left for Perth

Image

Arrived in Perth Monday 5pm, 4,669 kms later and exhausted.

Image

Last Monday I got WA plates on the car.

Gave it an oil change and some new plugs on Saturday.

Image

Sunday Les (MX52NV) kindly bought me and my son a spot in the club's Funkhana for Christmas, first chance to drive the SE in anger.

Big plans for this car but i'm in no rush, my wife loves that I own a quiet car again.

.. not sure YET. Wasn't prepared to risk getting hoon law'd in the middle on nowhere, the tow fee alone would be a killer.

A 90km stretch of road works was pretty sucky at the lower speed limit.

Tow fee is fixed at 130 dollars, maybe you can get a tow so high your fines dont cover it and then the govt loses money?

Make a deal with a tow truck driver...?

In WA "The driver of the impounded vehicle is responsible for paying all towage and storage costs if convicted. The owner of the vehicle will be notified by police. "
