Soft Top alignment issue

Postby DTH » Sat Jul 01, 2017 6:35 pm

Hi guys,
On trying to close the soft top on my NB8A it appears to be out of alignment i.e. the passenger side will line up with the windscreen edge while the driver's side falls short by 30mm or so. I can force it and occasionally it aligns correctly but most often it leaves a gap on the passenger side. Is this a case of replacing the tension springs or ..........?? I'll add that the car had a hard top fitted for some time before I bought the car so there could be some shrinkage - but on only one side?? Suggestions thankfully received.
Cheers,
david

P.S. I forgot to add that I've done triangulating measurements of the cockpit and the hard top fits well so the fault seems to be with the soft top

david

there is a bit of adjustment in the mounting of the soft top on either side where it mounts to the seat belt towers. You will need to remove a bit of trim access these bolts.

Hey David, have a look at following - there might be something in there about it as it covers most things hard & soft top: https://www.miata.net/garage/garagetops.html
