The recommended service interval for Xida is 100hrs. ( for HPDE which is my usage)
Trailered hrs are counted the same as track hrs, so 100hrs would be less than one season of use!
I strongly considered a set of Xidas but I’m not sending them back/forth to America every year, with all the downtime and removing/refitting hassles that would occur..
Guess MCA (local-ish) are in my future..

There's a company in Australia that services them, they did mine a couple of years back. Let me see if I can find them in old emails.

Ah, bugger, looks like they closed. Facebook page is active, but the link to their site is expired.

Any company that services Tractive shocks should be able to do them though. Also, be sure to get the shock sleeves if you do get them!

Edit: This is TT Suspension's new company, same people. https://dnaautosport.com.au/pages/tractive

Good link, thanks Lachy.

Looks like they do Bilseins too, as well as lots of others. Must remember that.

The Xidas are Tractive-based, and they offered a ACE version some time ago, which seemed like the goods, but doesn't seem much spoken about these days. If in the market and looking at MCA, the manuals would seem worth a look - dunno about the pricing though, they seem to pitching themselves at the high end cars, not a good sign.

Geeze, just realised that this is the first time I have not had an MX5 on the premises in 24 years, no wonder I am getting withdrawal symptoms :?

It might have been away for a day or two occasionally, but it has been 10 days already ... :( :frown:

Even when I wrote off the GM, I had it here and could see and touch it while I organised a replacement.

Can't be long now? Are Mania tuning it as well? I forgot what ECU you're running.

Not soon, certainly not soon enough :frown: .

Won't be next week (this coming one), hopefully the following week but no promises given. At least now it has been registered, and the looming onset of a blue slip inspection banished.

It is running an Autronic SM4 v1.09, David has some experience with them but not recent - he has consulted a local guru. However it already has a tune, so a lot of the stuff won't need big changes - hopefully cold start is one of those, no point in doing that in Sydney for the seriously minus temperatures here.

The rate of spool and ultimate boost will be different, so fuel maps definitely (new injectors too), don't know how much work the ignition will need.

I'll be talking to David again next week, hopefully things will be firming up by then.

Fingers crossed.

My car runs a vintage Autronic SM2 from 2003. People don't recognise the curly corded serial cable.

As long as the electronics remain reliable, the functionality doesn't change from day one. You will not have the bells and whistles that the latest gee-whiz device can give you, but if you don't need them you still have a functioning ecu. My SM4 was purchased second hand, a good tuner was available locally, what's not to like :D ?

That tuner has now left the industry :( , so tuning for the new engine is an issue, David will do it initially, and then we'll see how the car goes and what if any tweaking is required. I want to get it to a point where I can forget about the tune, and just drive it.

Events move on.

My ride down to pick up the car rang today, to give me his schedule, and indicate the couple of days he would be available over the next few weeks.

His schedule!? What does he mean giving me a couple of dates? Doesn't he realise the privilege of taking me down to pick up the almost legendary GM's successor? Doesn't he realise that he is supposed to put his life on hold until it is ready and we can make the trip, as set out in Holy Writ?

The world is going down the toilet faster that I had thought, but the die is cast, I have let Mania know, and they are going to confirm one or the other - I hope.

It's not happening as fast as I would like, but then if they are doing it carefully I will not complain.

First, clock the compressor outlet :D

Yeah, a work in progress, possibly follow stock, but lose the steel.

Any plans for shielding around the dump? That area get's pretty hot and affects near by components like heater hoses and AC pipes and condensers. My stuff got a little bit melty and had to be moved.

Short answer, yes. Some of the ac lines etc are being moved, and I have in mind your experience putting some around that area.

Would you suggest putting some on the tunnel before the exhaust is fitted up?
