Dodgy Day Lite. Saturday 21st November, Purga

Postby Steampunk » Tue Oct 27, 2015 4:07 pm

Due to popular demand, an early reconvene of the infamous Dodgy Day has been requested.

When: Saturday 21st November
Where: Purga, which I will now officially dub the new Dodgy Day Headquarters, vicariously passing the flame on from the notorious Jules.

There are provisos for this round of Dodgy Day Lite
- NO bolts or nuts larger than 12mm will be undone or tightened
- NO removal of wheels from the car

The only exception for the first proviso are engine, gearbox, diff drain plugs for lubricant change.

Some simple things we can tackle for those who aren't mechanically minded or don't have appropriate tools/equipment:
- engine/gearbox/diff oil change
- engine oil filter change
- check/replace spark plugs
- check/clean soft top water drain
- the good ol' igntion timing bump for NA's
- replace coolant
- re grease window mechanism
- replace bulbs
- wash, polish, wax
- soldering loose connections
- steam clean AC condenser

Please send me a PM for address.

See yas there

The middle bay will be kept clear for those who want to sit in the shed watching the action on the TV (or the work on cars) or heckling from the sidelines whilst eating chicken wings and drinking (water/soft drink).

If there is enough interest I will set up the charcoal fired pizza oven, just bring some toppings for the pizza. Makes pizzas in about 10 mins when hot.

So... who's good at sanding, prepping and painting interior plastic?

The top of my dash has very recently been fustigated so wouldn't mind sanding it back and hitting it with rattle-can matte bleck

5 days to go and the shed looks like this...

Rebuilt the carbs (complete strip) on the ZX600R and got it going ready for a roadworthy. The 120cc motorcross has a sticky throttle, makes it fun to ride and the 8 yo's Christmas present (he thinks it is mine). The buggy is NOT for dodgy day use so don't ask :)

I've got all the stuff to paint interior plastic properly, but I'm down here in Melbourne.
Bit gutted because I've always wanted to attend a dodgy day.

Batch of chicken wings just taken out of the smoker. Putting something special in the smoker tomorrow morning, it has been dry brined for 12 hours, sat in the fridge for 24 hrs then smoked for about 6.

Open for business in about 12 hours.

Will try to be there close to 9 but need to make an exit around 12 unfortunately. Remind me I'm after seat mount bolts and possibly hunt around for BC spanners. Other than that might just do an oil change and steam clean the AC condenser

Dodgy day lite over. Thanks to all attendees.

Vat may have to win the dodgy day award as not only did he introduce some tension (Steampunks desire for a boot release) but also left his tools behind :)

Steampunk and Vat also took the Blue NA6 for a spin, they consumed almost 10 ltrs between them...

Discussed ideas for 2016, possibly a dyno day (hired hub dyno) and or a dent pulling day.
