2nd MX5 cars, coffee and Nasho run

Postby Daffy » Sun Jun 18, 2017 7:36 pm

Hey all- The Problem Child and I heading back down to Sydney again.
(I'll be hanging around the StGeorge/Sutho shire area visiting rellos at Sans Souci & the Problem Child is now running at it's V8 ass kicking best with NO ECU sensor issues like the last trip down!!)

Had a great time and meet up with some of the forum Sydney crew on the MX5 cars, coffee and Nasho run in April, and I'm really keen to do it again (Saturday 15/07)- time to toss up the ideas folks, sutho nasho park run? Somewhere a bit different this time? I'll be driving down from the Gold Coast either Weds 12/07 or Thurs 13/07 and then heading back to the Gold Coast 18/07.

Speed and Stan the Man are already in - all welcome (and not just forum members from Sydney either if anyone is looking for a weekender getaway)

My better half spent much of her time living in Putney during the late 90's after moving down from QLD before we met. As for me, I recall just leaving great dirty black rubber lines in the northern suburbs streets around that time in previous "winged" beasties...... but I've matured so much since th................... ummmm, nah probably not

That's pretty F*****d up Trev....... I've had that only once before from a dodgy servo in Bexley years ago- bastards went "bankrupt" apparently before closing shop and did one last money grab before shutting down (deliberately contaminated  ). Was it intentionally laced or a storage tank fail?
Here's hoping Bam breathes fire again soon.
Mate, theres no issue if you want me to come by and pick you up before hooking up with everyone else, just let me know!

Trev was telling me that they were diesel tanks now filled with e85.

Found this info of interest on a US site RE tank preparation requirements for servos.

Converting an existing gasoline or diesel fuel dispensing facility to E85:
A suitable tank must be cleaned completely before switching fuels. When preparing a tank for E85, follow these steps:
Pump all remaining diesel or gasoline fuel out of the bottom and any moisture that may have accumulated
Clean the tank walls by one of these methods: using a filter agitator device, physically entering the tank and steam cleaning the sludge, using a robotic cannon to liquefy the sludge, or using a chemical cleaner
Pump out the sludge that was cleaned from the tank walls, and dispose of properly
Add 100 gallons of E10 (10% ethanol 90% gasoline) and then pump out all E10 and any remaining residue. Add and sell out 500 gallons of E10. E10 is fully compatible with any gasoline engine.
This last step is recommended, but not always necessary. This cleaning process to prepare the tank for E85 storage should cost $500 - $800.

The last time round seemed to work well, so just to re hash, Saturday 15/07 we hook up at Sylvania McDonalds carpark between 6:30-7am, chin wag and scoff some bacon and egg burger- then take off to Audley national park around 7:30am, arriving at Stanwell Tops (Bald Hill) for coffee. Any other suggestions or places to carry onto after Bald Hill are welcome (I haven't yet had the pleasure of driving along the Sea Cliff bridge road yet!)
