AROCA Winton February 9/10

Postby Charlie Brown » Tue Jan 29, 2013 11:03 am

Checking to see how many Victorian MX-5 Club cars are going to Winton on the 9/10 Feb?

A few of us boys from NSW are coming down to test the circuit for the first time. :D
I realise that it’s a round of the VIC Club’s championship, so was hoping for a few ‘do and don’t’ tips from those experienced with the circuit, so we don’t make too much of a fool of ourselves.

Keep a look out for us and come up and say hello.
There’s Bryan (Guran) in his Red NA, Keith (KRM) - Blue NB8B, Steve - Red NB8A, Paul (Paul61L) - Grey NC, Ralph - Red NC and myself - Blue NC.

First round back for us Vic's so expect to see at least 20-30 of us!

It's the Winton short track so it's great fun!

Normally MX5 dinner catch-up planned for Sat. night. Daniel and Rob (Vic. MX5 Club Motorsport contacts) will be able to keep you in the loop.

PM me if you need contacts.

I would have gone, but the vic super sprint round is being run on the same day. Tips are watch YouTube videos of the quick guys. Paul murphy is the record holder now for restricted open. So if he has any videos it might be worth watching.

Edit- just remembered, I uploaded a good video of me chasing cookies car there. Might find it if you search for lightyear vs cookie winton maybe. Or someone might be able to link it. It shows my lines, and his lines. As I am following him.

Thanks Guys, I've seen those videos and a few others.
It's the short circuit AROCA are running that weekend.

My lightyear vs cookie video IS the short circuit. Better of looking at the one Brendan uploaded of it, as there are 2.

101 entries and only 5 groups - 24 cars in group 3! That's going to be busy. Ralph is in Group 3 with me, while Steve has been put in Group 5 with Graham's MX2.5  . Ralph and Steve are similar pace to Phil who's in Group 1. Some strategic regrouping may be required.

The P.I.S.S.ers Racing Team would like to thank the Victorian boys for a great day of racing, (sorry sprinting) and hospitality over the weekend. A lot of car mod discussions were held over dinner and a few beers on Saturday night. Not a lot of tips on the track though.

We enjoyed our first time at the track, though the mid 30’s temperature obviously didn’t help the track times, but it did generate a lot of good ribbing between the groups, especially Cookie. :P
