You're not mistaken Mark. Phil started putting these records together several years ago and back then the modified 1.6L class at club track days did not have a power restriction - it was the same as 2A supersprints. Same for modified NB and modified NC at club days which were both 2B. Things are much more complicated now in the interests of giving others a fair go at club track days. To keep the records manageable, Phil has left out those club records. In any case, all you need to do is fit a set of A050s and you'll smash Scott's 2A record.

Thanks Bryan :)

I was just trying to work out the classes and found that to be a bit out.

Thanks for clarifying.

I want the record on my AD08s.
.1 of a second to go haha

No-one, not even the professional drivers have gone close to this time. On the second run of the day Luke’s times were 1:13.33, 1:13.08, 1:13.14, 1:13.08, 1:13.20, & 1:12.99. Fantastic constancy.
12's in a stock NC is incredible, well done Luke!!

Who'll be smashing what now?

Dweezle, it looks like you have 8 inch wheels with AD08s. With A050s on 7 inches (for 2A), and with the passenger seat back in your car (it looks like it is out in your videos), who knows how fast you might go. Watching your videos is like watching myself drive; same lines, same braking points etc. Your car is even the same colour as mine. I might have to have a hair cut and take off my undies for that last 1/1000th of a second. And scrape some more paint off.

BTW, ~1whp or ~10kg is worth 0.1 seconds at SMSP GP, based on my modifications over the years. So a 15kg stock passenger seat will add ~0.15 s there. Probably 0.1s at Wakefield.

StillC i assume your suggesting replacing the seat and 7 inch wheels to run in 2A?

I would only be able to go to a 6.5" rim as a NA6 came with 5.5" and i also use a 1.8 Torsen so i can not legally run in 2A in the NSW supersprints.

I do not know if i ever would front the $$ for A050.
Just stupid expensive for a car i have to drive to the track.

Would be very interested to see what difference a set of 205 50 A050s would do to my lap time though :)

If you want, but I think Bryan was suggesting that!

The NA6 LE sold more than 200 cars in Japan with a BBS 14x6 inch wheel, and probably Australia too (not sure of numbers sold). Therefore you can run 7" wheels in NSW Type 2A. But I run 6.5" with 195 A050s, which have a lower mass moment of inertia, give slightly lower gearing, and probably heat up faster.

Yeah, I drive my A050s to the track. But my tyre cost is less than my entry fees. And similar to rego and insurance. I live with it, and accept that I wouldn't be State Champion in Type 2A without them.

I, also, would be very interested to see what difference a set of 205 50 A050s would do to my lap time!

I am glad to hear about your diff. You're one less person I have to worry about beating me ;).

Scott, you should clarify driving to the track (wakefield) and back on your 050's is a 800k round trip lol!

Oh yeah. The A050s never come off my car. I drive my son to school on them, drive around town, do the big trip to Wakefield, or more regularly to SMSP and back. I figure that 99% of the wear happens on the track, and I don't really generate enough heat on the road to really 'heat cycle' them, so why bother taking them off. Plus, I am addicted to the them. Driving anything else is just plain disappointing, although my 165/75R13 Bridgestone Supercats (pink slip tyres) can be a laugh.

I didn't think aero mods like a deck wing and cut windscreen complied with Type 3 (and 3J) regs? I could be wrong though - and either way it is a damn quick car.

the car has been built to cams 2b marque sports car regs and is log booked. it runs in supersprints as a type 3 . they don't have a marque sports class and they say it falls into type 3.

My understanding of cams 2B is a production based formula that makes an NA turbo non compliant , you definatly can't run it in prod sports , only SP and SE mx5 where factory fit turbos , I don't know of a cams cattercory that would accept this car. That's the whole purpose of the MX5 cup to give these cars a home to race

you are right na,s can,t run turbo in production sports. they can in marque sports. they were approved for competition by the FIA . BBR built 750 turbo conversions for mazda in 1990 and 1991 after mazda won lemans.
