Anyone see those story on ABC Facebook yesterday?

Interesting for those with modified cars who drive to and from the track.

ABC Sydney

Police from Sydney’s highway patrol have pulled over a driver in this car, with modifications which were not engineered.

The Toyota Cressida was stopped on Friday in Eastern Creek and found with a roll cage, a modified Ford engine, lowered suspension and after market driving seats. The changes cost the driver a $877 fine.

Obviously a car which should have been trailered to the track. Hardly interesting news.

Sounds almost like Benny (BCW), but he would've trailered it.

Silly boy. He's been in the trade for decades and knows more than most thus he has no excuse.

That fine sounds more like 'driving an unregistered vehicle' … certainly not for a defect notice (unless I have missed something).

Was going to say the same thing. How many caged, Ford powered Cressidas can there be?

Bit silly of him. At least we know it made it back from the US OK

EDIT: he even had a row of jerrys (no doubt full of e85) on the back seat, what was he thinking

It would be like shooting fish in a barrel for the Police, just hang around the dragstrip entrance to see what appears.

Ok that Cressida is very modified.

I do notice that the Police always tend to pull over drift cars or anything with extravagant body work or suss looking things, ie this Cressida.
They also don't tend to come around unless there is a street drag meet or some sort of drift event. Which are normally late evening events.
Never really see any police when there are normal track events on. Well they visit the track itself(normally Blacktown Police), but they don't hang around the entry/exit nabbing people.

The stupid thing is they are not making the roads safer just pissing off people.
I see more standard cars driving around on bald tires than I see at the track.
Easy policing.

Lazy policing, lazy politicians and easy revenue from misinformation and misdirection.

Given the internet celebrity of the car in question, what are the chances the cop knew about it (highway patrol officers can be enthusiasts too) and instantly knew it would be unroadworthy?..... They were probably disappointed to see it being dríven rather than trailered.

Well ummm ... yeah ... and to be fair the car in question was a magnet, and for good reason, even if dríven sensibly.
