Co-Driver Wanted for McRae Rally Sprint 23rd Jan

Postby Si.G » Tue Dec 24, 2013 12:02 am

Hi Everyone,

I am searching for a co driver for the McRae Rally Sprint on 23rd Jan. There a few requirements

1) CAMS L2S Licence as a min.
2) An Appropriate helmet (obviously)
3) You need to be able to fit in the car
- No taller than 6' also otherwise your head will hit the the roof (less is better, because there is limited leg room)
- Not meaning any offence to anyone, but you have to be able to fit in sparco corsa seat, which is a 32-34 inch waist max by my estimation.

Optional requirement is making and shouting pace notes out :D

I would like to say it is an opportunity to sit along side a truly great driver, but it isn't really

PM me if you are interested.

Hi Simon, if you get stuck I can help you out. I will be down there as Carl is driving, my brother co driving. I have co dríven several times down there with Carl and Jamie Lister. Cant do pace notes though. I do suffer from a bit of car sickness but have managed to get through the 4 runs with the help of Kwells! I have all the relevant licence/helmet etc.
Cheers Nicky

Hi Nicky

M1474 (Seanan) from the club has offered to jump in the passenger seat, but if I am stuck closer the time, I will give you a shout - thanks for the offer.

Last time I was a co-driver I chucked on the way home - but I think I got some kind of illness, not just form the co-driving.

I can't think of anything worse than chucking in a full face helmet.

A big helping of chips from the van and a ginger beer will keep your stomach settled :D

I should be competing again, expect your times to be substantially quicker than mine though!

Make sure you post a reminder closer to the day and i'll try and find time to come down and take some photos.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I doubt it, I have not dríven at the motoplex and there are things like curbs to take wheels off and concrete blocks just waiting for you if mess up the braking. I will be taking it relatively easy. I have only just got the car going again :D

Thanks Dave - will give you a shout.

I have a few things to do on the car before the event, but should not be an issue

-- Secure First Aid Kit in the car somewhere
-- Fit new fire extinguisher
-- Secure 2 warning triangles somewhere so they don't fly out of there boxes
-- Fit new harness to drivers side
-- Get and fit a new harness to the passenger side
-- Move ECU from the foot well or cover appropriately
-- Fit new catch can, which involves welding 2 -6 flares onto the cam cover, welding tabs onto the can to fit it and making up the hoses (the easiest bit)
-- Optional - Fit new 276mm rear disks and pads

I only have one warning triangle in my car.

We will be running the course in this direction:

Hey Si
Are you doing the re-scheduled event on the 6th?
