Wouldn't be a track day without you frowning over a laptop!

Craig, I've frowned over a laptop for a zillion more hours at home than at the track!! :? I like doing stuff the hard way. I'm happier the more I frown.

Reminder for third party insurance, too.

Gotta love Suncorp - e-mailed the request this morning at about 7, had the letter back before 8.

51 entries for Monday.
I have been busy under the car. ALL my swaybar end-links were flogged out. Now replaced. Not my favourite job. So it should be a very different feeling car.

I have also downgraded from Kuhmos to R888Rs. There were no V70s in the country! At $308 the R888Rs were even more that the V70s, will not be quite as grippy, but will last longer, hopefully. They better! I like that they are asymmetric, so they can be rotated to compensate for the extreme wear I seem to impart.

After I cycle the R888s on Monday I will be on the KU31 transport tyres. I reckon they will scream.

That will be epic, Adam!

This will be my first run at Lakeside on the AD08Rs, so going on how QR went should be some improvement there. Have also had Auto+ put Beavis' adjustable sway bar links in during the Jaffa's service last week, plus some fresh front brake pads.

Track wheels are on, forms printed and in the glovebox, race clothing packed, chair and toolkit packed, GoPro mounted. Just need to chuck the lunchbox in tomorrow morning and top up fuel on the way up, and we're sorted. Should be a great one!

Great day. Packed up early, did the time I wanted and didn't want to risk pushing harder as the track got slower. Happy to finally be in the 61s, thanks to ridiculous grip from hankook.

Whilst I didn't run it was great to see over 50 cars hit the track today

Credit to Adam and all the QR/Lakeside staff for their excellent work that made the day flow so well, many got NINE runs for the day and nice to hear the positive comments from the MX5 Parts guys who travelled up from Sydney bringing THREE cars! They were impressed how the day flowed, the number of runs and the track itself that is on every southerners 'bucket list'

No names no packdrill but that red 2 litre ND was incredible pulling 64's nearly all day on damn road tyres!

So many new faces, so many PB's I will leave that for those who did the trick to make comments

Hope to be clear ro run the last track day in a few months

Fantastic day.
Thanks to Adam for keeping at it during the build up and making it a full day. Really appreciated.

Those of us that stuck around right to the end got a very rare opportunity to drive the circuit in an anti-clockwise direction. See pic below of the approach to Karousel from the bus stop.

Image

But wait. What's that coming around the bend out of the mist?

Obviously this is really my spin in session 3.
Pure luck that I stayed on the black stuff but off the racing line. Happened really quickly, and violently, on the go-pro. One day I'll get around to being able to upload it :| .
Knocked my confidence for six. Couldn't find any damage but my hearing suddenly became super sensitive to any rattles in the next three or four sessions and my times dropped off.

Luckily I'd already got a PB in the second session. 69.3675. Down from 69.7799 back in June.
RaceChrono (purely on my Samsung phone, no dedicated GPS) showed that lap as 69.38 so pretty accurate.
My optimal lap, per RaceChrono, could have been 68.45. Encouragingly this was made up of one sector from my fastest lap, one from the lap prior and one from the following lap. So pretty good grouping.
This gives me encouragement that the time is there but also points out that my consistency throughout a track day as a whole is pretty woeful.

Another positive was the number of people telling me to keep the car as stock as possible.
Reliability = more track miles = more track smiles.

I happened to be parked next to Gary in the Bullet. Didn't get to talk to him much but had some good chats with Dima (?) his crew and the boys did well to stay positive on a frustrating day.

Great to meet up with a lot of familiar faces and snuck in a few chats but the day moved really fast and I've just realised that I got ten sessions in. 8)
Thanks to Clive for some tips, Great meeting you.
Plenty of new faces around. Hopefully everyone enjoyed it and will be back in November and maybe we'll get a chance to talk then.

Found a new twisty road on the way home with great views of Lake Samsonvale: Clear Mountain Road between Winn Rd and Eatons Crossing Rd on the way back through Samford and Nebo 8)

Great day, and thanks to Adam and QR for a full and smoothly run program. I think I ended up doing 9 runs and could have done another one or two, and the 4 group format seemed to run pretty well once the groups sorted themselves out. A couple of minor spins but no-one copped any damage and with no stoppages group turnover was excellent

I took the traditional couple of sessions to get settled after having the tyres too high in the first session, learning the roll behaviour on turn-in and nearly backing it into Hungry early on, but settled into running most of the day somewhere in the low 1:06's, eventually pulling a 1:05.7694 PB in my last run of the day. Loving the AD08R's - once you've got their temperature/pressure window sorted, they're pretty much set and forget.

Working my way through the video footage I got through the day. I got much of Grant's spin and Andrew hiding in the gravel in the back half of the Karussel, and a couple of my attempts to get the Jaffa to bite me heading into Hungry.

I was looking for something well into the '5s today so to pick that up and run the day with no real issues is ideal. It does astound me that these little cars, with a bit of attention to general maintenance, can be dríven to a track, given an absolute hiding for 40 to 50 laps, dríven home and then return to commuter duty the following day.

Videos to come.

Really a very good day thanks again to Adam and the QR staff.

I had many clear runs today and was a solid 1:07 in various tenth flavours in the morning, started into the 1:06's in the afternoon, and hit a 1:05.6 on the last lap that I didn't notice til i was looking at natsoft at home after!
