NA 4x114.3 Hub Conversion

Postby jesseturbo » Thu Oct 16, 2014 3:24 am

Hi guys, has anyone on here ever done a 4x114.3 hub conversion? Not talking about bolt on adaptor spacers (do not want to run spacers) but a proper hub conversion? There's not enough material on NA hubs to re drill to 4x114.3. I've heard of some 323/protege and FC RX7 hubs being used but can't find any info to support this. Any help would be much appreciated as I'm desperate to convert my hubs as soon as possible. ありがと!

A couple have done it and said it's a major pain, and a few more were going to but never did.

I can't help much more then that sorry.

NA 4x114.3 Hub Conversion

Anything is possible with money. The easiest way would be to go and see a machine shop and have them turn you a set of front and rear hubs from billet. But take your cheque book, and while you're at it, have them knock you up a set of caliper brackets to fit whatever 4x114.3 rotors you plan to use.

Why would you want to do this? There is already a large choice of wheels at 4x100.

I realise having hubs machined for me is always an option but I have heard whispers of other ways being possible without costing a bomb, just can't find any info to support it. There is hardly anything worth buying in 4x100 hahaha.

In the light of the MX5 hub failures, if I was spending money on new hubs, they would be 5-stud.

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

Easier to get the wheels you want modified to fit the 4x100 PCD.

Plenty of places will fill and then redo the holes with proper inserts to suit.

Neale's wheels in Brisbane can do that type of work pretty easily, a friend has had many wheels modified to be able to be used on both a very special Datsun 120Y (fitted with a FJ24 and built for the old Group G class and with plenty of history that has Datsun people fapping like you wouldn't believe) and his RX7 Group U historic Sports sedan.

^good in theory, but most of the wheels I'm interested in don't have enough material in the right place for re drilling because of the spoke/centre designs. Plus drilling up oldschool Japanese wheels would probably make me cry.

Curious as to why your against spacers if this conversion is for form not function. Sounds like the most simple and sensible solution.
So lets go!

If you're going to run negative offset, adding pcd changing spacers will require serious flares.

Pretty sure this guy is planning on going drifting. I wouldn't want to run big spacers if I was going to thrash my car either.

LoL

Well if I were going drifting, I wouldn't be using rare expensive rims, but wouldn't have a problem with spacers... I have done some drifting at speed with spacers and didn't even die once.

Each to their own I guess.

Running negative offset rims while drifting is going to need big guards anyhow. Hell 8s at +25 needs guard work to drift.
So lets go!

-Nailed it, big negative offsets and half decent width don't play well with spacers unless you have a fetish for some sort of MX5/open wheeler crossbreed. Not a fan!

-There's nothing wrong with running spacers, I personally have no issues with them as long as they are bolt on and not slip on. Come on, every second drift beater out there runs them, I doubt that would be the case if wheels were flying off left right and centre.

-8j +25...... Guard work? Hahaha.
