cricket chirping noise that goes away with clutch in NA6

Postby vrmmmpshhh » Sun Mar 20, 2011 2:26 pm

hi guys. just picked up another 1990 roadster last week and steadily fixing it up. Ive completely flushed and changed the oil wth an addition of nulon lifter remover and i dont seem to be getting HLA noise. i can hear the injectors/ spark plugs firing but that is normal. the noise i get is like a cricket chirping away from somewhere near the CAS. the noise will come and go randomly but will go away if i tap the clutch and return if i take my foot off. i thought it was a input shaft bearing but i dont think it is as the noise is not always there and doesnt matter if its hot or cold.

this is the only thing left but its the main thing driving me crazy. Anyone have any ideas?

It's more than like a dry joint on the rod from the slave cylinder to the clutch actuation lever. Put some waterproof grease on either end of the rod and all should be well.

luckily its just the slave cylinder which needs oiling.
