Idle problem NA

Postby pattomx5 » Fri Oct 18, 2013 7:26 pm

My NA 1600 has developed dreaded idle creep. I have tried the GRN/10 bridge, no luck. The idle screw is now fully down and still idling at 1400 revs. Have sprayed Aerostart all over hoses, no change. Any ideas?

Maybe a vacuum problem?

Have you checked the ignition timing setting & other settings? Also disconnect battery, pump brake pedal a few times, then reconnect battery to clear ECU. Here's some more detail on setting idle when there's an idle problem: viewtopic.php?f=76&t=60434

^ that link has good advice. I just about went through each one of those items in the list without knowing that such a list existed!

There are so many possible causes. Mine had the same issues as yours (idle at 1500rpm).

I had a cracked crossover tube, bad injectors and bad ISCV. Cleaning the ISCV helped, but it wasnt until it was replaced that my idle was OK.

Did you do anything prior to noticing the bump in idle?

What happens when you block off the inlet tube to your idle control solenoid?
