Variable TPS NA6 Upgrade - Subaru TPS (Wolf V500 ECU)

Postby MasterZ » Sat Feb 08, 2014 1:56 pm

Hey guys and girls. just finished upgrading my tps in my Na 1.6l to a variable one from a Subaru.
The part number for the Subaru Variable TPS is A22-000-R25.
I went to my local self wrecking yard (pick a part) in Dapto NSW, Picked up Subaru TPS from an early 90s liberty. the place had heaps of them available.
Cost me $25 for the tps and i got the wiring just before the tps too so i could use the Subaru connector plug bit.
tried to document what i did but didnt have the camera on me all the time.
First of all a few pics of the tps compared
Sorry if the photos are big :s

The Subaru TPS fits on standard 1.6 manual throttle body on the inner holes that are there, but they need to be threaded.

The bracket holes on the Subaru tps also needs to be slightly enlarged.
I used my Dremel and made the wholes slightly bigger and fits perfect.

The throttle bodies shaft is about 4mm to longs. So I had to grind the shaft down a bit, now the TPS fits on the Throttle body flush.

Im using a Wolf V500 ECU with a Plug-in Adapter
This is how I wired it up. I used the standard wiring that comes from the car.

The Subaru has 4 wires coming out of it. you only use 3 of them the White, Black and red. you dont use the brown one at all.
Subaru ----- Mx5
White ----- Black Lime

If you're using a Wolf V500 ecu, you'll need to get a volt reading from your signal wire from closed throttle and WOT.
So i put the car in ignition, got my brother with a multimeter hooked up to the signal wire. got a reading for closed. wrote it down. then put my foot all the way to the floor on the accelerator to get the WOT.

Then you go to the sensor section of the ecu section.
then go to the TPS settings. Then change the TPS type to Min/Max.
put in the volt readings for closed and WOT. and you're done.
Been driving the car for about a week now, works flawlessly. sits idling at 1000rpm :D Very Happy with the results
Probably missed a few things, but that basically sums its up.
