Car is still with Dan at this stage, he's had a lot on and I haven't made it easy because I've changed a fair few things on the build.

In case anyone is interested things changed/added/not in the video are:

Bigger turbo - GT2860rs

Better fuel pump - Walbro 255 high flow

Bigger injectors - ID1000's (yes overkill but needed for e85 in future)

Ceramic clutch

Oil cooler

Boost/afr gauge - just to make me feel like I'm driving a spaceship

4.1 Torsen LSD

Machined brake disks and better pads - Carbotech AX6 (on Dan's recommendation)

I also added a roll bar from Automotive plus which was able to be engineered and ohlins coilovers which also had to be engineered (I didn't know that coilovers required that). I also had my exhaust manifold ceramic coated in black, bought advanti racing storm s1's and Hankook 225/45 rs3's for them. I can't contain my excitement, every spare second I have involves looking at turbo'd miatas. :D :NB8B:

Thanks for taking us on the journey with you. Loved the video and probably watched it more times than I needed to  Can't wait to see the next instalment!

Totally sympathise with "every spare second I have involves looking at turbo'd miatas"...as someone potentially considering boosted mx5 life, I have trawled through all manner of youtube vids of the best and worst quality to get a taste for the speed, sound & drive-ability of these little beasts. And I reckon there is definitely room for more!! So I don't know what your post-mods plans were apart from doing the initial comparison vid with the Cayman, but I reckon you could do a bunch - first impressions, living with a ***rwhp mx5, sound clip, first track session etc I'm more than happy to do my bit to help drive up your view count

Nearly there, Still with Dan. In the meantime I've ordered heaps of goodies and bought a $700 Toyota starlet to learn how to work on cars myself.

Smart move - lots of easy jobs you can do yourself, and at $700 if you stuff it up too far it'll be a relatively cheap lesson.
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.

Exactly, I have done a fair bit to it and learnt so much. I'll feel way more confident doing jobs on the mx now.

I don't think I've seen Part 2 posted anywhere on the forum yet, so I thought I'd throw it up for anyone interested.

Great video, and fun to see some other forum members included as well.

I'm quite interested to see what the promised part 3 video will include.

If my standard clutch with a whooping 74 Rw killer wasps can do it.(and that 74 is debatable) I recon yours can in 3rd.
just have to have courage to drop your clutch at 5500 rpm in 0.01 of a second. And the man in blue doesn't catch you in the act.

not great for the clutch or tires & great for state revenue if you get caught.

Yeah I was drooling at that too :)

Will be interesting to see how well, and how long, the stock engine deals with this hp. A smooth tune is one thing, the driver's foot another
