I know all about the intake = power equation.
Under the rules I compete under I can't have the intake changed. Unless I want to move to time attack class which I don't really want to do. I know others have got away with it, but trust me, they will look at mine.
Not having the air intake changed is also why mine is more unique from a tuning aspect as pretty much everyone else changes it, usually as one of their 1st mods as it gives so much power for a small outlay.
Plus more power = more chance of breaking gearbox and diff. Stock rods will also be very much at the limit.
I've actually read a lot of the various SE build threads in the past, as I have had my SE longer than a lot of others. Feb 2009 was when I got mine. Back then it was take your SE to Mania to do Stage 1 with some bolts ons or Stage 2 having the piggy back Adaptronic ECU and larger injectors. I only ever did the exhaust through them. Plus all my normal servicing.
No threads go into much detail about the ChipTorque chip. This is the best thread thus far, although we are supposed to be talking about the SP.
None seem to mention track use. And none have mentioned SAS as a Sydney based alternative to fit it.
Both SAS and ChipTorque have both said I need the dyno tuning done because of heavy track use. I would believe that as well.
Squirting the car a few times on the street is very different to driving the car flat out for extended periods on track.
I know with the dyno tuning I am getting closer to the price of an aftermarket ECU, but I like the fact that the ChipTorque setup has a lot less to go wrong with it and still costs less.
I'm more surprised that no who has replied with the chip fitted actually had it dyno tuned by Lachlan.
I know Crapweasel had his SE dyno tuned by Lachlan but he was the test dummy after all.
If I had the same mods as his car I would just do the over the counter send the ECU in job.
Any of you guys regularly track the car with the chip? Or are they just fun street cars?
And here's a good one. Does anyone know if you can transfer a chip from another already done ECU into your own ECU?
I can gain access to one. Try before you buy.
